Designed structure to support the new construction of a two story stable, including a hay storage area on the second floor. This barn is a replica of a stable from the 1900s, with heavy stone walls and a cedar shake roof. A bridge and retaining wall system at the rear elevation connects a drive lane to the hay loft for vehicle off-loading.

Goshen Road (Private Residence)
Newtown Square, Pennsylvania
This historic state-registered farmhouse had been abandoned for several years. New owners elected to renovate the farmhouse for use as a primary residence. This renovation included a two story addition. The foundations of the existing stone structure were in extremely poor condition. SDA upgraded the first, second, and roof framing per 2006 International Building Standards. The rough cut floor joists were recycled and exposed on the first and second floors.

Designed new two story custom garage. Designed structural steel and curved roof trusses with a standing metal seam roof. The second floor consists of wood frame and steel beams with radiant heating, designed as living space with a rear elevation balcony overlooking woodlands. The first floor is concrete slab on grade, designed to house a collection of antique cars. The entire structure is clad in precast concrete panels and zinc metal panels.

Performed structural design of a new two-story +/- 20,000 square foot residence with 12-foot basement. The main house living space is connected via breezeways to an attached two-story three-car garage and an attached two-story bedroom wing. The roof was designed for a heavy slate roof system. All floors of the residence designed for a gypcrete with radiant heat floor system with a total load deflection not to exceed L(length)/1000.
The residence also includes a detached four-car two-story barn with indoor pool and a standalone one-story pool house.
The main house great room has a cathedral two-story ceiling with a continuous center skylight supported by two – 24” deep steel purlins spanning +/- 40 feet. A spiral staircase leads to a second-floor balcony overlooking the great room and the vaulted ceiling library beyond.

Design of new +/-10,000 square foot two-story private residence with attic and 10-foot finished basement with attached three car garage by John Milner Architects, Inc. in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Design incorporated 8” stone veneer, wetbed floors and heavy clay tile roof. The breakfast room had custom hidden steel built-up mullions to support the windows. Also, designed a stand-alone pool house with cathedral timber truss ceiling with indoor lap pool.
